A few years ago we went on a holiday, me mum and the 3 kids for a few days. We only went to Leicester as we saw this offer for Stay, Play Explore which includes visiting 3 attractions, staying in a 5 star hotel and also having a yummy breakfast. We had to drive ourselves but it was only 90 minutes drive away so on the Saturday morning we set off and drove to Leicester.
The first place we visited was Conkers which is an outdoor play centre – It has a walking no shoe mud trail where you take off your shoes and walk in the mud and over the odd surfaces, think fire walking but over stones and through mud. Then they have a small maze, a look out point and a 4D cinema. They also have an outside assault course where you climb over the obstacles and walk across the bouncy bridge. They do have a few other activities but unfortunately you have to pay extra for those which I think is such a shame.
Second place we visited in the afternoon was Stonehurst Farm. It had a lovely little farm shop, a tarzan swing in the barn and the kids could enjoy playing on the play area, tractor and donkey rides. It was a nice farm for a few animals and there were many animals to see. And of course my favourite animals – The Sheep!
Then it was time to go to our hotel. We had chosen the Hilton but could have also picked the Marriott. We walked into the hotel, parking was free, and their was an easter bunny there giving the kids chocolate and easter goody bags which were great. The hotel was lovely, our beds were set out and the TV welcomed my mum by name. The beds were comfy and there was a TV in our room. The next morning we woke up and went down for breakfast. The breakfast was everything you could hope for – Full English, continental, cereals, toast and drinks. So we were all set up for the day.
Today we went to Twin Lakes theme park and spent the full day. There is so much to do including indoor and outdoor play areas, many different rides, packed full of activities. We went on all the rides including the rollercoaster, snow tubing, pedalo boats, the flying carpet ride. We played on the indoor play areas and the drop slide and went on all the rides indoors when it was raining. We watched the pig racing and also went to see the other animals. All in all would thoroughly recommend this trip as a cheap way to visit Leicester.
